How to Care for Organic Cotton Pyjamas

Why Organic Cotton Needs Gentle Care

Unlike conventional cotton, organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, and processed without harsh chemical finishes. This means the fibres retain their natural integrity — but they also respond best to gentle washing and drying methods.

Washing Your Organic Cotton Pyjamas

  • Wash at 30°C or lower. A cool wash is kinder to the fibres and uses significantly less energy — a win for your pyjamas and the planet.
  • Use a gentle, eco-friendly detergent. Avoid biological detergents with enzymes, which can break down natural fibres over time. Look for plant-based or certified organic laundry liquids.
  • Turn inside out. This protects the hand-designed prints that make each AMOKA DALO piece unique.
  • Wash with similar colours. Our prints are vibrant — keep them that way by washing darks with darks and lights with lights.
  • Avoid fabric softener. Softeners coat the fibres and reduce the natural breathability that makes organic cotton so comfortable to sleep in.

Drying Your Pyjamas

  • Air dry where possible. Lay flat or hang to dry away from direct sunlight to preserve colour and shape. This is the most sustainable option and the kindest to the fabric.
  • Tumble dry on low if needed. If you must use a dryer, choose the lowest heat setting and remove promptly to avoid over-drying.
  • Never wring or twist. Gently squeeze out excess water instead.
